Last Sunday morning on National Public Radio I heard it said that there are no functions of print media, including books, that are not overwhelmingly surpassed by digital electronic media. The anachronistic futurist cpressing this view has obviously never seen, handled or weighed the value of a book, such as the Persian Sofavid book of poetry dating from 1625, or this the leather golding book cover portraying a heavenly paradise on earth, which was captured within the books pages. Both are from the collection of the Seattle Museum of Art.
