Last Tuesday, Dec. 30, I was heartened to participate in the Black Poets Speak Out at Broad Ripples Sabbatical. Kudos to manager Corey & to the who of the ownership/management of Sabbatical, who have made this place a welcome home for artistic presentations & creative live music. I wish to participate more actively in 2015 in Indianapolis literary scene, & was so glad that, even though I didnt know earlier that the Black Poets Speak Out was going on at Sabbatical, was so heartened that the host invited me to sign up for the open mic, & that I was able to carry out a well-received impromptu presentation of one of my original works w/ appropriate banter that honored my influences that wouldve indeed stood by the Speak Outs purpose, to express through rage & poetry our concern for the needless deaths of African Americans at the hands of the police.
