Last Tuesday got a guided walking tour (in English) on a short notice. Didn’t know, does the whole group come together or... I arrived at meeting point and saw nobody. As phoning my boss and reporting the situation I spotted the “ I’m-waiting-for someone-guy”, and I hung up. Went widely smiling to him (in Finnish) “Hi, are we going to spend the next hour together walking.” He gave me hesitant look. I repeated the question in English. He looked a bit baffled. Me (In Finnish): ”are you going on a guided walking tour?” Man (In Finnish): ”No, I’m going on a date!” Me: “Sorry, a misunderstanding!” Man:” Well, I thought she didn’t look like you the last time.” There came the red haired woman and they walked happily away and at the same time around the corner my group arrived. Viime tiistaina tuli ex-tempore kävelykierros (englanniksi). Tapaamispaikalla ei näkynyt ketään, joten soitin toimeksiantajalle ja siinä samalla huomasin ”etsin-henkilöä” tyypin. Hymyillen kysyn ” Vietetäänkö me seuraava tunti yhdessä kävellen”. Hän virnisti ja katsoi epäröivästi ja varmuuden vuoksi toistin kysymykseni englanniksi. Ja seurasi hämmentävä katse. ”Oletteko tulossa opastetulle kävelykierrokselle” Mies” En, olen menossa treffeille.” Minä: ”Anteeksi, väärinkäsitys.” Hän: ”Ajattelinkin, ettei hän ollut tuon näköinen viimeksi.” Siinä samassa punatukkainen nainen tuli ja he katosivat horisonttiin ja samalla ryhmäni saapui nurkan takaata.
