Last beauty for the night for Beryl week... IDENTIFICATION: Aquamarine (Blue Beryl) CARAT WEIGHT: 12.34 carats QTY. / CUT - SHAPE: 1 / Brilliant - Round MEASUREMENT: 18mm COLOR / QUALITY: Sky Blue / AAA+ CLARITY / TYPE: VVS2 Near Flawless (10X) / TYPE I TREATMENTS / ENHANCEMENTS: N (no evidence of any enhancements to this stone) ORIGIN: Brazil Serrinha Pegmatite CERTIFICATE / REPORT #: 009453AB COMMENTS: Here is a dazzling and very fine gem Aquamarine where the gem rough was mined at the Serrinha pegmatite in the Jequitinhonha Valley of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This is a very beautiful gem Aquamarine with a very lively and very fine sky blue color tone thats not washed out or no color zoning visibly seen. No eye-visible inclusions upon close inspection, with an exceptional face up appearance & a very gemmy eye appeal. In the gem trade Aquamarine most often refers to the blue variety of Beryl, but the first element of this compound word actually implies some green. Even Webster’s Dictionary defines aqua as a light greenish blue color. Today a good majority of blue Aquamarines are heated from either a near colorless to pastel blue or green to greenish blue gem rough; the heated process removes the secondary green hue or most of it and leaves only the blue hue or a lighter greenish blue. However, there are many deposits of natural fine blue material like this one gem Aquamarine that have only been heated or irradiated by mother nature and not man. Phenomenal natural sky blue color indeed. Absolutely NFS....lol
