Last day diving in the Bahamas today :( Back home to Mexico - TopicsExpress

Last day diving in the Bahamas today :( Back home to Mexico tomorrow...looking forward to seeing Smilla and Alux :) It has been a great trip, teaching, filming and exploring. But there was no way I could leave without going back to Ralphs to check out the deep lead at the end of the Arrakis Room line that I discovered on Tuesday :) Brian and I double staged to the end of the original line, tied in, and dropped down through a restriction to the floor of the cave at a depth of 181ft / 55m. The cave floor here just looks totally amazing, a fantastic huge mosaic of cracked clay covered in iron red Sahara dust that made me think of the spice Melange from the Dune novels. I carefully laid around 300 feet of new line in low passage that twisted and turned through several restrictions. Brian wisely decided 2 people was 1 too many in this type of cave and turned back at the first restriction as visibility behind me deteriorated to check for leads in a different location of the massive Arrakis room. I kept hoping the cave would either open up or start getting shallower but it continued at the same depth through very low passage until I finally tied off after passing through a very low grinder restriction. I headed back out carefully making sure not to touch the beautiful clay floor, looking for and marking potential leads for future exploration eventually meeting up with Brian again at our stage bottle drop in the Arrakis Room. We headed back out together to contemplate another great exploration dive in Ralphs cave while during our long deco I was left wondering what new exciting discoveries Brian will make in the Arrakis Room and the newly discovered Spice Subway passage after I am gone. Thanks for a great dive today Brian and I hope to be back exploring with you again soon my friend!
