Last day of the festival today and meadow 29 was my home for the day, half fancied it as it was next to where i was monday but andy moors was on that today plus lee wright on 27 and paul williamson on 26 which had won the section everyday so 3rd/4th was a realistic target if i could manage to beat one of them id be happy out else was a bonus tbh, after mondays match i had a good idea of how to attack the peg so i kept it very simple one rig for across and it also done for down the edge so two rigs was all i set up as i knew this is where id need to catch to do well and didnt want to be distracted by feeding back up lines down the middle etc, iv had a very similar match to monday just less bites but i fished 5hrs across before i had a look down the edge, i managed 4 fish before they went so back across with half hr to go then last ten mins back down the side and same as monday two edge fish last for 15lb finished a decent match off for me to finish with 148lb. I actually landed a fish after time which won me the section as paul williamson on 26 had 145lb and andy weighed 143lb lee took 4th with 107lb. So finally a bit of luck went my way as wednesday i was beat by 1lb which would come back to cost me. Im the end iv finished 3rd overall which i was made up with as after wednesday it wasnt looking great but by avoiding a blow out from two dodgy draws iv managed to win the section the last two days. A big well done to lee murphy who managed to win the festival with 13pts couldnt of happened to a nicer lad and hes fished awesome all week so fair play to him. Lee wright managed to take 2nd spot beating me on section countback and mark fox taking 4th losing out on weight as he drew two iffy sections where big weights werent possible. So in the end not turned out a bad week theres been alot of ups and downs for everyone with the fishing being great for some but hard in areas for others the key has been consistency as all five results count so some people have been flying all week only to have one bad day where they double there point score but thats the nature of festival fishing. Back down heronbrook tomorrow for the commercial national with my team mates drennan nw hopefully a decent draw and we can do well but theres alot of top teams fishing tomorrow so again avoiding the bad bits is gonna be key.
