Last fall I announced that I would be adopting a child this spring. After much consideration, and heartfelt prayer - I have decided to postpone adoption for the time being. There were several factors in this decision, mainly the time and effort I am putting into preschool and starting a daycare at my church and alma-mater elementary school. However, I have not completely abandoned the subject. Instead, I have proceeded with getting a foster-care license. The goal of foster care is to allow a childs parents an opportunity to get their lives back on track while a foster parent cares for their children for short-term. Returning children to their parents is the ultimate goal. I feel it will be a blessing to be able to help children out while getting families back on track. It will be a great fit with the extensive work I do with children. As a foster-parent I would only take children age 3-5 (my ECE degrees concentration area), only one at a time, as-needed. This is a joint venture I am doing with my mother. As an early childhood professional I see it as an opportunity to teach children who are in need, and provide guidance to these children, while helping families grow stronger. Teaching young children is my passion, and I truly believe that with loving guidance and enriched learning, through a wide variety of experiences, any child can excel in life. I appreciate everyones loving support in all of my endeavors. It is the encouragement from my many friends, family, and acquaintances that help me push through.
