Last long stretch before the Pelotonia 185! Rode 40 today with Tom - TopicsExpress

Last long stretch before the Pelotonia 185! Rode 40 today with Tom Tom Hall, Leslie Culver Dieterich, Beth Schorr and Craig Severson. A nice hard ride into the wind with great speed work. Loved it. My focus today were the Pelotonia Volunteers. Those folks who do not ride the route (some actually do!) but provide the riders with the "nourishment" that is invaluable. Without them, we could not do what we do. They give countless hours registering, stuffing bags, hanging banners, staffing rest stops, providing EMS services, cleaning up after us, and providing us with happy smiling faces EVERYWHERE they are. They do this in all kinds of weather, heat, rain, humidity and sun. You hear NO complaining, only "How can I help?" They do this for ONE GOAL! Part of the team! I rode to honor a very special volunteer today, my brother Pete LeMay. Drove here from Cleveland in the wee hours of the morning for Pelotonia 12 on day 2. Just to volunteer as a medic for 1 full day. After his rest stop closed, he drove to New Albany and waited for John Looker and me to finish together. He was our photographer as well. Long long day for him. But Pelotonia made an impact on him, a cancer survivor himself. This year, I encouraged my receptionist to ride. She is not ready, but instead chose to volunteer with her husband! Welcome to the Stemm family, volunteering on Team Granville. And many thanks and welcome to dear friends, Karen Hickman and Joe Hickman as new Team members on the volunteer side! With much gratitude and honor to ALL volunteers, Thank You! We rode through Granville after our ride to get pics of the banners, since next week, we pedal through. A great ride with great folks!
