Last month 36 youth Saltdogs signed their name on baseballs to be shipped to a military soldier or veteran as a thank you for service. Together with the help of many individuals and companies , these baseballs reached the hands of true heroes! We love watching our boys play baseball, we love more reading emails like this knowing what they are doing makes a difference. ----- I wanted to follow-up and let you know that the baseballs you sent were a very big hit! I was personally moved by the reaction of one of the patients (Rios) at the hospital, who got so excited when he saw the baseball; it really made his day. He thanked me many times as he squeezed my hand with a sparkle in his eye. That continued as we went to all the rooms in the hospital and showed the picture of the team and in some cases would point out the boy who signed the ball. I must say I wasn’t sure what reaction we would have by including the baseballs in their care package, but I can say it was one of the best things we could have done. Interestingly enough, one of the nurses is going to take your idea and do it with her local team. Many thanks to you, the coaches, and most of all the boys. Please extend my gratitude to them for taking the time to think of the men and women who have served our country. Their generosity will bring smiles and brightness to the day of those patients for a long time.
