Last month, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin chose Joanna Tabit to fill the remaining two years of Kanawha Circuit Court Judge Paul Zakaib’s term. He chose Tabit over fellow attorneys Webster J. Arceneaux III, Gary E. Pullin and Lisa A. Tackett. “Over the past 20 years I’ve applied for it virtually every time there’s been an opening,” Tabit, a Democrat, said. “Maybe they got tired of seeing my name,” she said with a laugh.
