Last month, I had the great pleasure of meeting and photographing an awesome family during a family reunion of sorts to celebrate their mamas 70th birthday! At the time, we realized that we had mutual FB friends in Micah Aherns family! (https://facebook/pages/Praying-for-Micah-Ahern/143168165732233?fref=nf) Micah is a super hero to the max and is currently undergoing round #10 of chemo to fight off childhood cancer. Ive grown to love and admire the Ahern family, and Ive had the joy of photographing their sweet clan! As Kim and I became facebook friends, I learned that they had lost their daughter, Arden, to childhood cancer and last week they celebrated what would have been her second birthday! Im re-posting Kims message here, and I would love to gift a session during the month of September specifically to a family that is being impacted by this terrible disease. Feel free to email me or private message me, and Id love to get it set up asap! Continuing to pray for these kids and families affected, and grateful for these families willingness to share their stories to educate others! Calling all of Arden’s Allies! September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and we need you to spread the word that childhood cancer research is INCREDIBLY underfunded (receiving only 4% of federal funding for all cancer research!). No parent should have to see their child go through what Teague and I experienced with Arden, and no child should have to endure the pain that she did. We need more, well-funded research to FIND A CURE! How can you help? All you have to do is: -Take a selfie, like this one of Arden (That’s easy, right? No ice buckets required!) -Upload your photo to Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter with the hashtag #erasekidcancer and tag @cookchildrens -Let your friends know that they can help support life-saving treatments, technology and programs for the patients and their families at Cook Childrens by visiting: cookchildrens.org/erasekidcancer for more info.
