Last night, Bill Cosby took the stage for a standuo routine, greeted with a standing ovation. Protest was predicted. Instead, people chose to believe 1 man vs the word of at least 17 women. The number matters. 1 woman vs 1 man... who knows? His word against hers. But this is a tidal wave. And i am sure there will be more. Plus maybe others who will forever remain silent. The court of public opinion actually matters for once. That is all there will be. There will never be a trial due to statute of limitations and a lack of physical evidence, much like the Catholic church scandal. At this point, it is the word of 17 women vs. 1 man. Do you believe all 17 women are liars making false accusations... or do you believe them? Pick a side. Refusing to pick a side = you dont believe the women. Hes not facing conviction and legal ramifications and jail time. Just a fall from grace. Innocent until proven guilty is a legal standpoint and doesnt fully apply in the court of public opinion. Even then, beyond the shadow of a reasonable doubt applies to criminal law, but not civil, which is merely a preponderance of the evidence. If you dont believe 17 people, then you have to believe a vast conspiracy has been organized to bring down one old man. Funfortunately, the real cultural conspiracy is a pervasive refusal to bring him to task. Everyone has separately and silently chosen to plead the fifth regarding their own status as victim until now. Even Lou Ferrignos wife claims Bill tried to force a make out session on her, with her husband in the next room, along with Bills wife. I am not 100% on the side of the supposed victim in all cases. I am not quick to scream Guilty Until Proven Innocent for all rape allegations. I think that vicious mentality is unfair, unjust, and frankly dangerous as a society to allow the pendulum to swing that far. Why? Because the accused deserve a chance to defend themselves. If i am ever accused of any crime or serious moral lapse like this, I want American values to support me as much as anyone else. We all have the right to a fair trial. But Bill Cosby will never be tried. And when directly asked to address it, Bill just sat there silent. We have a preponderance of the evidence.
