Last night I attended an annual Christmas gathering at my dear - TopicsExpress

Last night I attended an annual Christmas gathering at my dear friend Frankies house. She does a phenomenal job with the meal and our dirty Santa. She also makes sure to add something special, and this year she read to us the real meaning behind the song, 12 Days of Christmas. I had no idea the song originated from persecuted Catholics many years ago as a way to celebrate their faith during the Christmas season. Each verse represents a gift from a true love, God. I wont list them all here, but I found a link online you can visit to read them. As I sat in my friends house openly celebrating the birth of my Savior, the gratitude for that freedom overwhelmed me. Arent you thankful to live in a country which allows us to profess our faith? Sure, there are times we feel persecuted by others who dont believe as we do, but we dont know what faith torture is. Weve never had to make up songs with symbolism in order to sing about a Savior. We sing songs others used to camouflage their faith out of fear for their lives. Lets stop and offer a praise, but also a prayer for those not as fortunate because in a lot of places, the fear still exists. Wont you join me in doing so today?
