Last night I attended the meeting of the Austin Village - TopicsExpress

Last night I attended the meeting of the Austin Village Preservation Society. It was a pleasure to find out more about the hard work that local residents are putting into working together to conserve, maintain and improve their unique and special area. Austin Village is a wonderful heritage area, the bungalows were originally built to house the workers at the Austin Motor Company (later MG Rover). And the bungalows themselves were shipped over from America during the war in 1917, surviving attacks from U boats along the way! This is a thriving community, and our local Councillors Randal Brew and campaigner Debbie Clancy also work very closely with residents on issues of maintenance and planning to ensure the area preserves its wonderful character as it nears its centenary in 2017. rachelmaclean.org/news/residents-proud-new-austin-village-signs
