Last night I couldnt sleep...I tried but, it just was not - TopicsExpress

Last night I couldnt sleep...I tried but, it just was not happening. I got up, I stretched, I took some Advil for the little niggling ache in my hip...still nothing. So, I started to think about my fall running season...or lack there of. For the past 12 years, I have had at least 4 races on the books between August and December - usually a full and a few half marathons. This year it is a little different - I have a goofy Awesom 80s 5K (I really want the Ms. Pac Man Medal), the Long Beach Half...and then crickets and silence until Boston 2015. It is weird...it is not bothering me nearly as much as I thought it would. I think I have finally accepted where I am at in my running and that my hip is the boss - it says Ok, lets run a race and I will add a race. I have written down the dates of 10 races that I would love to do - 5Ks up to the Half - they are waiting out there in the fall and winter like glimmers of hope and little presents to open. As I get closer to each of them, I will pull off the bows and open the gift or send the gift back until next year. I am learning to embrace the unknown and the unplanned and it is kind of exciting for a girl that is a Type A personality and likes to plan everything. Although there are 10 possible races coming up - at the top of my wish list - Revel Canyon Half, Holiday Half and Girls on the Go 10K or Half (after last year I swore I would never do this race again but, the medal is so very cool - I may give it another shot) and the Spooktacular Half or 5K (with my son). Love I have a wish list but, pretty ok with going shorter distances or not racing if needed - enjoying the journey to Boston 2015 and keeping the hip happy is the priority. :)
