Last night, I did a post on the defamation lawsuit against National Review. In writing the case up, I visited NRO for the first time in some months. Now, Ive never been a fan, but the decline in the quality of NR is simply stunning. Its all content-free snark or content-free whining. A good (!) example of this is Andrew McCarthys lament for the prosecution of Dinesh DSouza for violating campaign finance laws. Interestingly, he essentially concedes DSouzas guilt, but then claims selective enforcement. How does he back this up--by showing similar misconduct n the part of Democrats that have not led to prosecution? No, of course not--he asserts that such violations are routine practice among Democrats, but cites not a single example. Rather he waffles on about a bunch of executive decisions with which he disagrees (Obamas recess appointments, for example, delays to implementation of the ACA, and non-prosecution of illegal aliens). They really are just phoning it in. And that article at least tried to make an argument--although it failed to even achieve a sequence of thought.
