Last night I did a private show for parents who are raising funds for a school in Palo Alto. I had never been there, in Palo Alto, before, what a nice little town. I want to express gratitude to Rick and Mara Wallace. By purchasing my show in the fund raising campaign you directly are supporting the upcoming record, giving me the ability to finance the recording, and indirectly showing promoters, other business people that i have the public support to keep working. Its so important. and it is the kind of hands on involvement artists like myself need from their fan base now. While of course you always paid for the records, it was financed by compaies on the faith that you would pay them back and more.. It also felt good to have them take the gamble, spend so much on publicity, the radio thing, pictures and ads.. Thats a different part. this part is just of recording..but.that blind faith thing also indentures, indebts ?, fills us with a sense of failure no matter what we do. Now how much better to ask, like they do in the movie business, who will finance this project? I like it. by being involved in this aspect, I am more likely to keep my feet on the ground. To see it as business and not as an extenuation of love, or good luck, or God. Its just buzness. yeah. Buzz. How .. thankful I am today to have people who will share their money, I know I would if i had it.. to support things they want to see in the world, or have enjoyed in their lives.. so that I can do the work I long to do. Im just feeling a little grateful today. lets eat.
