Last night I experienced the movie Dead Man Down and transformed a long building set of perceptions from my subconscious to a cognitive epiphany. Yes, it’s a good five star picture, but I left with something more than a temporal buzz. That special something is the realization that Actress Noomi Rapace’s performances – Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Girl Who Played with Fire, Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, Prometheus, etc – never fail to reveal unique insights into the human condition; things universally sensed, but seldom comprehended. There are many such gifts bestowed by her screen works, way too many to inventory here. But, one that hit me twixt the eyes last night was the way the human mind can pivot in a tick from one personality to another. Noomi flips the screen scene from withdrawn victim to revenge driven psychotic in a whiplashing instant, and takes you with her faster than your hard pressed neurons can process the signal. Not to worry, you’ll catch-up to her in time, and emerge the better for it. Can there be any greater praise for an actor, than to show you who you really are and make you know it in a way you can’t regret or reject? 1.bp.blogspot/_vjAWN23WdvU/TTcsvSes79I/AAAAAAAAAA8/LBkchOujYmE/s1600/Noomi_Rapace_04.jpg
