Last night, I had a phonecall from someone with an aggressive dog - TopicsExpress

Last night, I had a phonecall from someone with an aggressive dog in their finca that was trying to bite everyone. Although I had plans, I worked my way up, up, up to the top of the mountain - to find a Chinese Crested dog huddled on their back step, absolutely terrified. After spending an hour talking to him, he let me pick him up, shaking like a leaf the whole time. As soon as I picked him up, I could feel broken bones and a lot of liquid that I shouldnt have been able to feel. The poor boy was covered in puncture wounds, lots of old wounds and was clearly in shock. At the vets, I named him Nacho :) Nacho had a broken back and pelvis and was bleeding internally. Although a small amount of his wounds appeared to be from another dog, a lot of his injuries were caused by humans, through repeated kicking and stamping it seems. He was in a lot of pain but by this point, he trusted me. I stayed with him until he was comfortably sedated enough to be operated on this morning. I kissed him and told him he was safe now and I would see him soon. Nacho died this morning. All day he has been on my mind - could I have got there quicker? Would it have been different? No, I dont believe it would have been. I take comfort that in his last hours, he felt safe and comforting arms around him and was told that he did matter and was named and loved if only for a few hours. Im sorry Nacho. Us humans can do horrifically vile things for absolutely no reason. Thank you for trusting me enough to get you to safety. Rest happy and healed at Rainbow Bridge mi amigo.xx
