Last night I had the unfortunate opportunity to witness the Denmark shire council meeting. In my opinion it appeared that it was run in a manner that illustrated how one council members interest can manipulate, without adequate fact and with the use of random farcical examples. Also illustrated was the how risk assessments can be directed to suit ones own agenda. Final outcome was that an inexperience council to risk assessment considering this was their first, were the HSE/QHSE judge and jury. Finally it was agreed that further risk assessment needs to be investigated and that the independant 2 lined, poorly written HAZID and assessment was not correct, but it was still used as the foundation for the OCEAN Beach Boat ramp closure in easter and future peak closures throughout the summer period. I would like thank Council member Kelli Gillies and Cr Roger Seeney for delivering a well rounded mature solutions and work arounds, unfortunately this was voted against and I personally would like to thank you for your efforts and mature attitudes. Also from the wealth of experienced people that attend and gave their vast knowledge to the shire council that was subsequently ignored for the most part. Denmark Shire should understand the acronym ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).Another prime example why residance of the Denmark shire should vote with there feet.
