Last night, I lost a nights sleep because every 15 minutes I heard - TopicsExpress

Last night, I lost a nights sleep because every 15 minutes I heard one loud, short high pitch beep. Was it the new clock radio Michelle Nenner Boniello got me? Did I hit something on it to cause this? I didnt think so. Fall back to sleep. Fifteen minutes later, another loud beep. Was it my new iPhone? I didnt think so. Was it the computer? I didnt think so. Every 15 minutes one loud beep to wake me up. By the time I opened my eyes, it stopped. Infuriating. This morning, when I heard it, I found it. It was from a Verizon box buried behind a hard-to-move night table. There is a button on the box that says silence alarm. In calling Verizon tonight, I learned that it is an alarm indicating that the battery backup, which will provide power to the internet connection for a short time if we have a blackout, is running out of power. It is $43 to replace. If it starts beeping tonight, I may throw something through the window. A dying battery backup for the internet should not create the annoyance of a dying smoke or carbon monoxide alarm.
