Last night I read Bermans Fruit Fly for the second time. I first read the e-book version about five months ago. Then, the book found me at a crossroads in my life. Not only did it provide the roller skates needed to take the road less traveled, but it also supplied the wrist guards and knee pads for the inevitable bumps and falls along the way. I knew where I needed to go, I just needed a push to get me there faster and the courage to know that even if I fell and got bruised along the way, I would be better off if I followed my gut and faced my fears. I had to have faith in myself and in the universe - because the clock is ticking and all we have is this very moment. I felt inspired to re-read Fruit Fly again last night, this time in paperback. Let it be known that I am no stranger to crunchy literature. Ive devoured more than my fair share of granola. My soul is similar to my body with its insatiable appetite. Berman says it right on the cover: The Secret You Already Know. He doesnt preach or impose his philosophies onto the reader. You dont feel pressured to burn sage and stop shaving your armpits to hitch a ride on the flower train to enlightenment. But rather he speaks to you like an old friend and in his comedic and lighthearted way, reminds you to breath. I had no agenda when I packed LLAFF for my weekend trip. Once again it found me and proved to be just what I needed. For me, his book is like a massage for the soul. It touches on all the right points. If we forget to love ourselves unconditionally, then how can we truly share love with another. As we all know: (or if we dont know-we will find out soon enough) Love is all weve got on this earth. Thanks GB, until the next time. - New, breathtaking, review of my book: Live Like A Fruit Fly (ends with the Robin Williams speech from Dead Poets - RIP brother)
