Last night I rose in the Senate to oppose the Business Services Wage Assessment Tool Payment Scheme Bill 2014, The new tool would have made it very difficult for a worker to meet competency levels to enable a fair wage to be paid. It was also the Abbott Governments intention to extinguish a persons right to legal redress. Labor voted to protect the rights of vulnerable people, some of whom have profound intellectual disability, to fair pay for the work they do and the support they need to find and keep work.
