Last night I sat next to my father in laws hospital bed and held - TopicsExpress

Last night I sat next to my father in laws hospital bed and held his hand while we waited for his pain medication to start working. In these moments he remembered that his wife of sixty years and his son, my husband of 25 years, had transitioned. I like the word transition because it isnt an ending…its a change of form. My experience has taught me that life continues. I asked him if he had been having dreams of Barbara and Richard, and he lit up and said many. I told him when his time came, it was going to be easy and he should just think of it as lifting and letting go…like taking clothes off to shower. I told him he would walk right into Barbaras arms and Richard would be there, too. He smiled, and said I think so, honey. Tender moments…living the big stuff.
