Last night I was called to a Peugeot 107 that had cut out and wouldnt start. As I got in the car I noticed all the dash lights were illuminated but the keys were still in my hand! First instinct and experience drew me towards the battery and the earth cable in particular. On opening the bonnet I discovered the battery had moved and pulled the earth cable tight, a quick jiggle and it all started working, but only for a short time then wouldnt go again! I priced a new cable from Peugeot and was astonished at the price. However, the local motor factor had a cable just right for the job (albeit red instead of black) for a fraction of the price. Closer inspection showed a damaged connection in the positive terminal too so I replaced that while I was under there as well!
