Last night I was informed Dave Beattys last day was last Thursday. I have not been to work since Wednesday morning but I dont recall any kind of announcement about Daves retirement. I called Dave last night and learned he was now retired. He also told me his ceremony consisted of an Admin Clerk handing him his last check and a exit questionnaire form to be filled out. Here is a guy that had 27 years with the Jackson County Sheriffs Office. What ever your feelings are about Dave this is no way to treat a 27 year tenured employee. I did not always see eye to eye with Dave but I have known him since I first started with Jackson Co. Letting him walk out the door without even a handshake or thanking him for his service is just plain wrong. We need to do better than that. Employee recognition is non existent and I will fix that.
