Last night I was thinking (a rare occurrence, Ill admit) something - TopicsExpress

Last night I was thinking (a rare occurrence, Ill admit) something that I want to share. If you ever think your life doesnt amount to much, that youre not important, or that what you do, or dont do is irrelevant, youre believing a lie. Let me illustrate that with a true story about a couple of sailors serving during the Korean War. I know one of them very well. His name is John. I never met the other guy, and dont even know his name. But John told me this story, and I know him well enough to trust him. John told me this story several decades ago, so I may have some of the details wrong, but the story is substantially true and correct. John and his buddy were stationed aboard, as I recall, the Oriskany (or it might have been the Ticonderoga). Johns buddy was a Christian. John was not. He didnt know the Lord from a lizard, God from a goat. Johns buddy asked him if he wanted to go to a party and meet some girls. John replied, Sure!. But Johns buddy forgot to mention that the party and the girls were at the Port O Call, a Christian Servicemens Center in Oakland. After the get acquainted party, they transitioned to a devotional service (servicemen told how Christ had made a difference in their lives, followed by a message and invitation to come to Christ) John heard and believed the Gospel there, and was saved. After leaving the Navy, God laid it on Johns heart to start a similar outreach to servicemen in San Diego. In the years immediately preceding, during, and following the Vietnam War, countless Sailors and Marines were introduced to the Savior at Harbor Home Christian Servicemens Center. I am one of them. Many of us have had an impact on other people as well, some as pastors and missionaries, some as laymen. Now suppose Johns buddy hadnt asked him if he wanted to go to a party and meet girls. Would any of the things that followed have occurred? I dont know. Neither do you. My point is this: we all impact other people. Your life matters. Your actions matter. You might never be famous, but how you live impacts the entire world. So, how are YOU living?
