Last night I was walking into Grand Central. Had to use the rest room. I heard a loud sound ahead and as I got closer I realized what it was: A Die In. Cops were everywhere, circling the protesters. I had been wondering where the protest was. I forget all about the rest room and went along as everyone filed out into 42nd Street. Next up was Bryant Park and we had a moment of silence around the Christmas tree. Then down to 34th Street. I walk fast and ended up at the front. We turned east on West 32nd and noticed the rest heading down Broadway. We turned back. It was sort of like a loosely organized organism moving downtown. Thats the way it seemed, anyway. In truth, the organizers were keeping in touch with one another online through their phones. We headed down to 14th in the rain, holding up traffic and chanting as trucks honked and onlookers snapped photos from the sidewalk. It was Great. It was moving. It was also mellow. There was nowhere Id rather have been last night.
