Last night I was wistfully supping on a much deserved pint of beer - TopicsExpress

Last night I was wistfully supping on a much deserved pint of beer at my local bar Mennies in Dundee, discussing with a lady and who works for a Labour MP the merits of independence. I was met with repeated cognitive dissonance, that condition when you make up the facts to justify the means. I was told we needed trident as there are hidden enemies. Pushed further I discover its North Korea that is our new threat. I thought could be worse; it could be aliens. She agreed she had no idea how future generations will cope, how without the UK and its size we will be ruled by Germany and that Im not old enough to remember the Second World War. The last sentiment is true! I listened as I was also told that government is only a frontage to the real world of money and that Scotland was too wee to survive. Now bearing in mind by this point Im reaching for something stiffer to resolve my incredulity I was agasp at these assertions. It was neither reasonable nor evidenced based. Saddened by the dearth of any vision for our citizens I hastened to leave So I left concluded to watch out for North Korea, the Germans and dont forget the last war. Were better together also because Scotland is just too wee, too poor and frankly in some quarters too stupid to build the better, fairer and more socially just society we all aspire too.
