Last night I went to turn off the living room light and as I - TopicsExpress

Last night I went to turn off the living room light and as I glanced in the bathroom I noticed a large nail on the white tile floor. I wondered how it got there. I turned out the light in the living room and went into the bathroom. The nail had moved. It was one of those black millipede things. Sooo disgusting. I tried to squish it with the lid of the garbage can but it coiled up like a snake. It didn’t want to be squished but I was determined. I put a bag on top of it and stepped on it. It popped like a juicy balloon and made a yellow mark on the floor. I am getting tired of bugs! In the morning we were off to church for Easter service. It was all women worship this morning. The only word I have for it is – uninhibited. I love it. The dancing is my favorite. Just about everyone dances and they even did a little Conga line up front. The way they sing together is just so much fun. They don’t practice or have a set list. It is all spontaneous. I wish I knew all the songs. The only instruments are their voices and the drums. The lyrics are very repetitive but the way they sing together, it does not get boring because they are singing with such feeling. I got to speak today for about a half hour and I told the story of the woman and the jars of oil in 1st Kings 4:1-7. It was an interactive time and there was a chance to share about how God sometimes helps us in different ways when we are in need. It was so nice to hear their stories. One of our teachers told of a time when her Mom and Uncle were in a car accident and they didn’t think they were going to make it. She was at school and remembered going to her bed and praying and praying. Her mom quickly improved. Another told about how when she was younger living in Kenya they had an Ebola outbreak. Her Mom had been in Uganda and was returning home. The soldiers were trying to catch up to her to stop her from entering the country where the outbreak was because they don’t let people travel back and forth. She arrived home where a child was sick. She hugged him and tried to care for him then she heard the soldiers arriving so she ran outside. They asked her if she had been in the house, she said that she hadn’t but they took her anyway into isolation. Meanwhile at home her family was waiting. Sometime later someone came and told them that the woman who had come from Uganda had died of Ebola. She said they were all crying so much then her father said they should pray so they circled round and prayed. He decided that he would go and see for himself and bring home the body. When he got there his wife was the first person to greet him. They had made a mistake and it was another woman who had died. The kids were all expecting their father to bring back a body but instead he brought back their Mother! What a great resurrection story! It was really a good time hearing all their stories. All of the ladies were dressed up in their traditional Ugandan dress. I wish I had taken a picture. All of the kids were dressed up, a lot of them in the dresses that we had given out. The big headed boy came to church. Angela pointed him out to me. His Mother was there. She looked like she was a teenager but she said she had two boys. She looked like she was pregnant or had just given birth. He was wearing an outfit that was too small for him but he looked cleaner. He still would not smile. Angela said that he had come to children’s church before with Little Richard and Maureen. So this is a 4 yr old, 3 yr old and 18 month old walking a mile to church by themselves. This is Uganda. Angela had to send them home early that day because the little boy and Richard were throwing rocks at each other, really hard. Apparently he has a temper. Anyway, I didn’t get much information because everyone was in a hurry to get home for Easter dinner. I will try to do a home visit on Tuesday. We went back up to the house and started to prep for dinner. We made fried chicken, mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, carrots and lemon cupcakes with vanilla frosting and sprinkles. Allen, Stella and her daughter, Mama V and Irene came with baby Aaron who was in the best mood. Everyone seemed to like the dinner. They were not too sure about the gravy but once they tried it, they liked it. There was no hesitation with the cupcakes! After dinner we enjoyed a wild time of playing UNO. They are so funny when they play games. We laughed a lot and when they did not win they would say that for this hand they were getting serious and then they would tease each other about who was more serious. When they left we gave them each a cupcake to take home and there were no complaints there. I can’t believe that there is only 2 days left here. I’m going to miss everyone so much.
