Last night (Saturday), Evie and I trotted off to the Christchurch Casino for tea. Sitting in the smokers garden afterwards for a post-dinner puff, a guy came straight up to me. Bruce! he said, extending his hand. Your names Bruce Wardell, isnt it? Ummm ...No ... I replied. Oh, come on, Bruce! he said, Its me, Mike! But my name isnt Bruce, I said. Bruce, dont play silly buggers! said Mike, I lost track of you about 16 years ago when you moved to Australia! How are you? But Im not Bruce, I truthfully responded. Mike looked at me, then looked again. Of course you are! he laughed, still obviously believing that I was having a joke with him. You look JUST like him, and you even sound like him! Dony play silly buggers, Mate, how are you? Well, finally I managed to convince Mike that I wasnt Bruce Wardell. They say you have a double out there somewhere ... I think Ive just learned the name of mine, at least.
