Last night, The Allman Brothers Band played what may have been their final show. I was first introduced to the Allmans by my father at a young age, and was instantly a fan. As I grew older and began to compose more, I feverishly studied their song structures and chord progressions, which I believe made me a better songwriter. They were a huge influence on me and Daves high school band, and their influence continues to seep into the Gentlemens music every now and then as well. I had the extreme pleasure of seeing them live twice, and they were incredible both times. They have had a huge impact on my musical life, and I am forever grateful for that. Take a moment (or 13, if you do yourself a favor and listen below to one of my all time favorite recordings) and pay your respects to one of the greatest bands there ever was.
