Last night There were two separate incidents last night. The first was with Benny Ross who posted something about the slave grave site. There was actually nothing wrong with the post, but the rules are clear, that there will be no discussion of race, correct? Well as others added their comments, the topic was heading in the direction of a racial debate, so rather than hear the whining about why I deleted one person’s comment, and not the other, I deleted the post. I notified Ross of this, and rather than discuss it with me out of the eye of group members, (per the group rules) he decided to post his rebuttal and leave the page. His big deal was “censorship”. He went on and on, which provoked others to do likewise. From that, a few got upset and left the page as well. Now comes the second situation. This woman had been after me to giving her page band a shout out, so I copied a video from her band page, and asked group members what they thought of the band, and many said that the singing sucked. Well it just so happens that she was the singer. Her feelings got hurt, and she asked me to remove the video, which I did. Well her husband got upset, and like any immature person, started name calling. This prompted a few of her friends to depart as well. Admittedly, the censorship complaint got under my skin. There has to be rules, and the first amendment doesn’t apply is many situations, but few seemed to know that. Now, we need to move and leave last night behind us. What I found most interesting was the almost accusation that I was avoiding a form of black history. There is not more than one other person on this page with more black history than me. Born in the south, and during the time when racial segregation as at its peak, I paid my dues. The accusation of my blackness came from a few who was either not born during that time, or was in the far northeast of the country where there was no Jim Crow laws. And this is exactly the reason I do not want any discussion of race on this page. So no more question, and comments about last night please.
