Last night, after the rains, the dogs and I went for a walk on the North Park ranch. It was stunning and very peaceful; the calm after the storms. As we approached the house I heard some bellowing from the woods but I could not see any animals. So, we went into the house and I poured myself a glass of wine and took it out to the porch. I am allowing myself one glass of wine per night. I would rather drink the entire bottle but . . . prudence suggests only one glass. Anyway, I was sitting on the porch and all of the sudden Kaya started growling, she is my grand-dog who I am babysitting while Allie is away at college. Then shop kitty started growling. Marley (my dog) just started wagging his tail. I told them softly to each keep calm. Then an extremely large bellowing bull moose with a really long bell came walking across the yard. I again told the dogs and cat to sit and the bull moose stopped and just looked at us for quite awhile. Then he strolled slowly across the yard into the prairie. I have so wanted to get a GREAT picture of a bull moose but they are pretty elusive and this time I did not have my camera. I thought about getting the camera but I knew that my movement would set off the dogs and the moose. So we all shared those beautiful moments together in a stare surrounded by the calm after the storm. Hal always told me when I did not have my camera (it happens often!) just to remember that moment in your mind. I have and it was beautiful. Here are a few moose pictures over the years none great but all special. Peace.
