Last night at 11:59 PM, 116 volunteers stood under the remnants of a full moon to place 2,997 flags on Pennsaukens 9/11 Memorial - one for each life lost. The weather was grace-filled and beautiful - a crisp and clear 64 degrees. The volunteers who gathered there were even more beautiful in my eyes: Firemen, Police officers, Emergency Teams, (active and retired) Moms, Dads, Secretaries, Gas station attendants, teachers, waitresses, children as young as two years of age hung on their mothers hips, and the oldest in attendance? She will be 90 on her next birthday. We surely will never forget the tragedy of September 11th, 2001... but we should also never forget that there are still so many good people out there, doing right by others every single day of their lives. Never lose hope, my friends. Goodness will always win in the end.
