Last night at 2225hrs the TFS were advised of a Structure Fire incident at the Sorell Memorial Hall. A quick response by crews from Midway Point, Dodges Ferry and Orielton enabled the fire to be contained to the point of origin prior to the fire spreading further into the building. Crews utalizing breathing apparatus were required to remove parts of the buildings roof and ceiling to access the fire which started near a switch board and spread into a wall cavity. An investigation today has revealed the cause of the fire to be deliberate with between $25-$30,000 damage sustained. Quick action by firefighters ensured a number of old heritage photos and pictures within the room affected were saved and luckily the fire was contained to the structure. Another top team effort from crews once again.
