Last night at 23:45 I lost my wonderful best friend and mother, the kindest, sweetest woman I have ever known (a little biased but true!), we brought mum home just under three weeks ago to nurse her through liver, bladder and breast cancer, Mum managed a smile right up to when she finally drifted into a sleep on Monday night. Mums wish was to die at home in her own surroundings and where Mum and her husband of 62 years shared so many memories and I am so pleased that we all carried out that wish to the very end. The compassion and love shown by the team of Rowcroft Nurses has been absolutely outstanding, I cannot put into words how wonderful they have been when we needed someone on the phone or when they needed to attend swiftly to help with pain control. Rowcroft are quite simply the best organisation and people in the world. To lose both parents in a little under 7 weeks is very hard, the only good I take from this is that their Christian beliefs bring them together again in Heaven. Mum I will never go a day without thinking of you and talking to you. The last five+ years of caring for your both has often been challenging but I wouldnt have changed any of it. I love you so, so much xxx
