Last night at an event with the Denton County Democrats, I introduced John Cook, the Democratic nominee for Texas Land Commissioner, who has also served as city councilmember and then Mayor of El Paso, Texas. When talking with Mr. Cook, he said I reminded him of someone he served on the city council with: Congressman Beto ORourke. Rep. ORourke is someone I very much admire (and a fellow Texan endorsed by the Freethought Equality Fund PAC), so I was honored by the compliment and comparison.
