Last night at the potluck, there was an elderly man who was obviously having difficulty breathing. I can see the tell-tale signs having lived with asthma all my life and also watching my Dad struggling towards the end. He was standing in line, waiting for his food, when he started to collapse. I dont know if it was the heat, weariness or lack of oxygen, but he was going down. Fortunately, some men were there to bring the recliner over to him and gently seated him down. Someone put a t.v. table in front of him and got him a nice assortment of food. I saw him later and I think he was o.k. (I didnt see all this happening as I was outside, letting the guests go through the line first, and salivating at the thought of the prime rib awaiting me.) Someone who did witness all this was my Josiah. He told me before bedtime, that he was scared and he placed his hand on the recliner and prayed for the man. Theres straight As and brilliant minds Theres sports aptitude and success Theres physical fitness and outward beauty Theres achievements galore your children can accomplish But, the ONE thing that matters to me MOST and thrills my heart in the most touching and profound way: a little boys simple yet beautiful faith, COMPASSION for others, a soul that seeks God and is anchored to Him. The rest may come; some things we already see in him and some may never come to pass; but my greatest dream for him is already being realized. All that other stuff is just icing on the cake. Hes got the cake, (the firm foundation) and that makes this Momma proud! :)
