Last night diabetes smacked us right in the face. Power was out - TopicsExpress

Last night diabetes smacked us right in the face. Power was out so we put the kids in bed with their electronic devices, Brian and I opted for a candlelit bath, 45 minutes later Kork is in our room crying (and you could hear the shakiness in her voice), mom, my blood sugar is 29. WTF! Lowest shes ever been and I have no idea why it would have been that low, it took juice, 2 glucose tabs, a spoonful of peanut butter, and half a granola bar, suspended insulin deliver for an hour, and 45 minutes of laying on my bed to get her up to 91. The rest of the night we reduced insulin by 20% and she was 116, 102, 121, and woke up at 78. We can go weeks without any D-Crazy and just when we get comfortable were smacked back into reality. Moms and kids should not have to go thru this, no one should. P.S shes fine now, but she and I were both scared for a little while. That 10 minutes of fear....cant explain it, I wouldnt wish it on anyone though.
