Last night, had dinner with some friends (for a birthday) at Touloulou Bistro in Marble Hill. Ive been wanting to try this spot for a while, and the opportunity presented itself. The food was really good to me, I enjoyed every bite of my meal. The portions could have been a bite bigger though (but then again, who doesnt wish that? lol). The ambience was great, I love the setup.. simple, yet kept to the theme. My issue was with the service. We had two servers for our group (9 persons). The main server, you could tell she needed a bit more practice, as she did some things a bit wrong, such as taking orders, serving, etc. - things that can be worked on. She was pleasant though, and that to me was enough to overlook the other mistakes. However, the second server had an attitude for whatever reason. When she brought our drinks, she wasnt sure who had ordered what, and kept repeating ginger-ale over and over, without giving the person who had ordered a chance to indicate. You could also pick up on the undertone of sarcasm (or maybe not an undertone at all), because even after the person who had ordered indicated, she again repeated ginger-ale There were a few minor issues as well, however after our meal, the manager (I think) Mark, came over to get a review of our night, as he must have picked up on the problems happening - and it was given to him straight. I appreciated the fact that he came over, albeit a bit too late, but he came over nonethless and that stood out to me. He showed genuine concern, as it seems some of the staff are new. He assured me that he realises its something that needs to be worked on, and apologised profusely on their behalf. So although the night could have been better, that bit of action at the end was able to somewhat salvage my attitude towards the establishment.
