Last night me, my sister Haylee Tucker, my boyfriend Josh Bias, my friend Stephanie Acevedo Cruz, and my friend Mack Muzic decided to go to Buckhead Saloon. Ive been there on a couple occasions, but this one was very different. Ive always really liked Buckhead Saloon, but last night was pure racism. We get to the entrance and as were waiting in line we see a few black guys getting turned away. We really didnt know what was going on so we stayed in line. Finally we get to the front of the line and one of the bouncers tells Josh that his pants were sagging. Anyone who knows Josh knows that he wears skinny jeans. As a matter of fact, they were American Eagle skinny jeans. They told him that he wasnt allowed in because his jeans were sagging. So still really not understanding that it was racism (Josh knew) we asked why cant he get in? His pants are sagging at all. One of the bouncers said to me maam we can turn away anyone we choose. Thats when I knew exactly what it was. My sister Haylee started to get real upset. I told the bouncers that I was going to call my mom because she works for the city they told me we dont care who your mom works for get off our property. They started to shine a light in my sister Haylees face so thats when I went to her. Then they shine the light in my face which caused me to go into a panic attack and faint. When I finally started to come to, I could hear Josh asking the Atlanta policeman who were off-duty that work there (in their Atlanta police uniforms)and the policeman who were called to the scene to please stop shining their lights in my face because it was making my attack worse. They told him you dont tell us what to do and no we will not turn our lights off. Were trying to make sure shes alive they said. So they shined them brighter. All of this was happening right there in the middle of the kid on a strip that was covered in people mostly white. They called firemen out to check my vital. Even one of the firemen was laughing at me because I had passed out. The bouncers continued to be rude to us to tell us to get off of their property. One of the bouncers even said to me with just doing our job we have to feed our families which let me know that even the owner in the managers must be racist. Im not going to let this go it really changed the way I look at the lives of black men in America. Racism still lives and just because Pres. Obama is in office doesnt mean a thing!!!!!!!! We have to change this we have to stick together and come together as human beings not just as Black, White, Asian Hispanic or Indian!!!! But as people standing up against injustice standing up against wrong!!!!! The policeman in the bouncers even put their hands on Josh and on Mack and even my sister Haylee and we couldnt do a thing about it!!!!! Grown man getting mishandled by other grown men like their little boys! This is wrong and from my understanding and my research Buckhead Saloon is known to be racist! Even people who have worked there say that their racist, say that the management wants to stop playing black music so that black people will stop coming!!!! So many other black man have the same exact story as we do! So why are they still open???!!!! But its alright because theyve messed with the right ones now!!!! Were going to talk to everyone we can so that we can shine a really bright light brighter than the ones that they shot and Ill faces on this place! Everyone needs to know!!!!!
