Last night saw Salmon Confidential about a researcher in British Colombia who has been detecting European viruses from the farmed Atlantic salmon showing up in wild B.C. stocks. Shocking efforts of B.C. and Federal governments to shoot the messengers rather than address the problem. There are options - such as farming salmon on land in containers rather than in the channels the wild salmon use - but they would increase costs. The powers that be seem to be willing to put the keystone wild salmon and the ecosystem they support at risk for their profit margins. See , NOT which is the opposition site. I think Ill stick to wild salmon from now on.
