Last night the Baltimore County Council unanimously supported a bill put forth by Councilwoman Vicki Almond to establish an Animal Services Advisory Commission. Our sincere thanks to Ms. Almond and the entire Council. The Baltimore County Executives office issued a statement in response calling the bill an overreaction and the response to a small group of animal advocates who want to release feral cats in the county. This is the same rhetoric Mr. Kamenetz has been using for months, despite all evidence to the contrary. As you may recall, CAPA for Maryland endorsed council candidates in the recent Baltimore County election so to have a voice, as the County Ex. continues to ignore, insult and disparage more than half of the population in Baltimore County. The result of election, as all of the CAPA endorsed County candidates won their seats, is that the Council is essentially veto proof. So Mr. Kamenetz, it might be time to finally admit you have been getting it wrong and see reason. Wed much rather work with you than against you, but rest assured, we are not a handful of crazy cat ladies, we are not demanding anything outlandish, we are the people of Baltimore County and positive change in animal welfare is coming to Baltimore County and to the State of Maryland with or without you.
