Last night the Montesano High School volleyball team finished up an undefeated regular season with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-19, 25-18) win over Hoquiam. The Bulldogs came out on fire in the first set scoring the first three points and the last three points of the set and going on an 11-0 run in the middle. The Grizzlies were on the defensive side most of the night, but kept the second set close being tied at 15-15 before Monte closed out the set with a 10-4 run. Sophomore Jordan Spradlin led the Bulldogs with 21 kills and 7 total blocks and senior Myranda Floch added 18 kills, 9 of which came in the first quarter. Senior Megan Choate made her mark on the record book on senior night by setting the record for most assists in a single season with 31 assists on the night to set the record at 352 to break the old mark of 334, which was set in 2008. Choate also led the Bulldogs with 13 digs, as teammates Floch and Cortney Miller each added 12 digs. Senior Hannah Jensen was a bright spot for Monte going 17-18 for service with two aces. Monte will be back in action at Bo Griffith Gym at 5:30 p.m. on Nov.5 for the first game in the District 4 Volleyball Tournament and will play in an either loser out or winner-to-state game at 7 p.m. the same day.
