Last night was President Obama’s sixth State of the Union - TopicsExpress

Last night was President Obama’s sixth State of the Union address and it was amazing. Not only did the president present some great ideas for our future but he was funny as hell. It was an all around win for him. Not so much for the GOP though. As always, there was a Republican rebuttal after the president spoke. The rebuttals are usually comedic gold, remember the Marco Rubio water incident? This year’s speaker, Iowa Senator Joni Ernst (yes, the same woman who fondly recalled castrating pigs in her youth), did not disappoint. The thing about Republicans is that they can’t relate to Americans who are living in poverty, but they need some of those moochers people to vote for them if they want to win elections. This necessity causes them to try to make themselves seem more “relatable.” These attempts by the GOP oftentimes make them look foolish…and that’s exactly what happened last night. Joni Ernst started her speech by trying to drum up sympathy for herself by telling some bullsh*t story about growing up impoverished in Iowa: You see, growing up, I had only one good pair of shoes. So on rainy school days, my mom would slip plastic bread bags over them to keep them dry,” Ernst said. “But I was never embarrassed. Because the school bus would be filled with rows and rows of young Iowans with bread bags slipped over their feet. ifyouonlynews/politics/breadbags-top-12-funniest-tweets-in-response-to-moronic-gop-state-of-the-union-rebuttal/
