Last night was apocalyptic. Rain everywhere. Rain on top of rain on top of rain. Your clothing soaked and tree limbs and trash filling the streets. I almost got electrocuted by a downed telephone wire whipping in the wind like a crazed snake and was only saved by the quick actions of an intrepid Cambridge firefighter-sorry for the complete lack of situational awareness, pal, I was listening to John Hiatt and thinking about a girl-and when I finally made it home my jacket weighed about 20 pounds, my shoes were ruined, and I slumped into the couch, shaking and freezing in boxer shirts with monkeys on them, and watched that HBO Foo Fighters documentary until sleep finally, mercifully, took me. Now Ive the day off, Im alive, and Im ready for anything.
