Last night we played our third game of the tourney. We played Masco, a team considerably higher than us in the Valley league. We played them very tough but ended up tied 2-2. We had the but gave up a late goal to allow the tie. Tough ending to a great game. But it set the tone for todays final. A rematch of last nights tie. Masco came out faster than us and got the first goal of the game. Both teams continued to fight hard for the rest of the period, but it ended 1-0. The second period started with a bang. Ryan ORegan drove down the wing right off the opening face off of the period. In front he found the power forward justin Carlyle, nobody could push his massive frame from in front of the net as he hammered home the tying goal. Again the teams fought hard, with each goalie making some nice saves. The period ended tied at 1-1. The third period stared with nashoba pressing again. Their goalie made a nice save off a great slap shot from the point by Matt Gould. The puck was loose in the middle and John Magee (scored in every game of tourney) banged home the rebound to put us in front. At this point the Chet Herget show started. Within the next three minutes he scored twice. Once going around the defense with speed and beating the goalie. The second off a pass from Matt whelan. Masco got another to get it to 4-2. But Chet put the game to rest with another goal. A hat trick in the third period. The final score was 5-2. The defense (Tom German, Connor McDonough, John Sturrock, and Matt Gould) and goaltending (Roger Carter) were fantastic. We allowed 8 goals in four games, while scoring 15. The offense was helped by Andrew Friel, Jack Dunning, Aidan Timlin, Vishwa Nathan, as well as others mentioned above. What great excitement these young men provided us The last few days.
