Last night we watched, National Treasure. It kind if sickened me. As usual, the female protagonist, who was purportedly a very accomplished historian with high level govt clearance was, of course, a gorgeous, blonde 25 year old. Like when Denise Richards played a genius scientist in that Bond movie. Ok this girl wasnt as stupid-seeming, but still. You know the main casting requirement was young and beautiful. Mesnwhile, Nicholas Cage, looking like road kill who has had plastic surgery and could be her Grandfather is cast as the lead and ends up laying claim on her at the end when it is literally declared that he, Got the girl. From the moment they hook up, her character gives up her identity (what little of it there was) and trades in her curiosity and career ambition for cuteness and sweetie-pie bullshit with Cage. Fun movie plot-shitty social indoctrination for my daughters. Come on, Hollywood.
