Last night we watched The Vikings. Tolerably entertaining tosh. Surprised to see that the screenplay was by Calder Willingham who used to have a decent reputation as a novelist and was a pal of Capote, Mailer and Vidal. The movie, made in 1958, starred Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Janet Leigh, Ernest Borgnine and....DANDY NICHOLS!!! Alf Garnett’s silly old moo. I remember seeing her in Pinter’s The Birthday Party. I did not realise that the film version was directed by William Friedkin of Exorcist fame https://youtube/watch?v=KonChsnUO6Y https://youtube/watch?v=G1zEi1MWZI0
